Enrollment opens Tuesday, November 18 for our winter session. Classes meet ten times over eleven weeks, from early January through late March. Sign up for our email list to be notified, and reach out with any questions.
At Maine Clay, we believe in slowing down, working with care, and finding meaning in the rhythm of making. Our classes are small — capped at nine students — so instructors can meet you where you are, offering support and guidance as you build skill, confidence, and voice.
Working with clay is a meditative art. It invites curiosity, patience, and presence. It challenges and rewards in equal measure. From your first centered pot to developing your own body of work, each stage offers a new way to listen, learn, and connect through clay.
OUR CLASSES
Across our eleven-week sessions, you’ll have time to settle in, build consistency, and truly find your rhythm, letting skill and confidence grow through gentle repetition.
Every class includes studio clay, glazes, and access to Open Studio hours for additional practice. Firing fees apply to any kept work and students will need their own tools; bring a set you already love or select our custom Maine Clay tool kit at checkout.

We have four enrollment periods each year, aligned with the seasons. Occasionally, we add additional classes or workshops throughout the year.
-
Most classes meet weeknights from 6–9 PM, but we also offer weekday morning classes from 10–1 and the occasional weekday afternoon class from 2–5.

We pause classes on holidays and during school vacation weeks, though the studio stays open for practice. We take December off from regular classes but offer open studio time for those who want to keep working. Summer brings its own mix of classes, workshops, and special programs.

Most of our classes center on the wheel, but we incorporate hand-building in many courses. We teach clay holistically—the wheel is just one way to shape and explore the material.

STUDIO ACCESS
Weekly class gives you the structure you need, and Open Studio time gives you the space to make it your own. Practice helps solidify everything you’re learning, and even short stretches of extra time in the studio can move your work forward. We know schedules are full, but we hope you’re able to sneak in for a bit of additional practice when you can.
Class wheels are available to students during weekly Open Studio hours. In addition to the two classrooms, there is a separate space with additional wheels, a dedicated hand building area, and assorted tools and molds available for use.
Members have all-hours access to the studio including to work outside of open studio hours listed below.
